It is important to me that mothers feel that the birth belongs to them and not to the care providers. Therefore, I make great efforts to discuss with women what their hopes and expectations are for the birth and we work towards those desires as much as possible. Over half of my clients have a waterbirth and I teach mothers how best to utilise the water for pain relief and support. Like I said earlier, in order to reduce tearing, I teach women specific gentle brith techniques which work extremely well.
